American Association of University Women (AAUW)-Voices Project

While in Argentina, I got accepted to be a member of the AAUW Voices Project, which was formed to promote public discourse on the subject of pay equity.  Our goal is to get as many op-ed articles and letters to the editor published all over the country as possible in hopes of increasing awareness of the gender wage gap.  Hopefully, these articles will lead to Congress passing the Paycheck Fairness Act, which failed to pass the Senate last year.

Another principle goal of the project is to create awareness about Equal Pay Day (April 12), the day on which women's salaries finally catch up to what their male counterparts as of December 31 the previous year for the same job.

For more information on pay equity and how you can get involved, visit http://www.aauw.org/act/issue_advocacy/actionpages/payequity.cfm

I'll be sure to keep you updated on when and where my op-ed is published!
